چکیده

The reduction of the soliton interaction by use of optical sliding-frequency second-order Butterworth filters is studied numerically. It is found that the second-order Butterworth filters can reduce the soliton interaction more effectively than Fabry-Perot filters or third-order Butterworth filters because the secondorder Butterworth filter induces larger frequency chirping on the soliton, compressing it as it propagates in the fiber after the filter.

Reduction of the phase jitter in differential phase-shift-keying soliton transmission systems by in-line Butterworth filters.

We examine reduction of phase jitter by use of in-line Butterworth filters in soliton systems in the context of differential phase-shift-keying coding. We also demonstrate numerically that the use of a Butterworth filter in a return-to-zero differential phase-shift-keying system can reduce continuum background radiation.

Soliton propagation with up- and down-sliding-frequency guiding filters.

We analyze the effect of the third-order guiding filter term on soliton transmission in optical fibers. We find that this term causes a significant difference between the regimes of up- and down-sliding of filter frequency. In particular, the use of up-sliding requires less additional amplifier gain than down-sliding does, which is preferable in real systems.

Determination of optimum filter in myocardial SPECT: A phantom study

Background: In myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging, images are degraded by photon attenuation, the distance-dependent collimator, detector response and photons scatter. Filters greatly affect quality of nuclear medicine images Materials and Methods: A phantom simulating heart left ventricle was built. About 1mCi of 99mTc was injected into the phantom. Images were taken from this phantom. Some fi...

Minimum channel spacing in filtered soliton wavelength-division-multiplexing transmission.

We study a soliton transmission line with sliding-frequency filters, and we determine the limits on soliton stability imposed by the value of the free spectral range of Fabry-Perot étalon filters. From these limits, we infer the minimum channel spacing that is possible in a soliton wavelength-division-multiplexing system.

Digital Notch Filters Implementation with Fixed-point Arithmetic

− Many studies have been developed aiming to improve digital filters realizations, recurring to intricate structures and analysing the error ́s behaviour. The work presented in this paper analyses the feasibility of fixedpoint implementation of classical IIR notch filters (Butterworth, Chebyshev, Bessel and elliptic), and also the effect of the quality factor and normalized cut-off frequency in ...
